René Metge calls the colour
« After three editions and mighty
itineraries such as Paris-Peking, Paris-Ulan Bator and Paris-Moscow, the
Master Rallye has decided to move its departure town to Moscow for the next three
years. This change will enable us to develop certain projects in the long term and
every destination of our dreams is open to us: Moscow-Vladivostok, Moscow-Tokyo,
Moscow-Bombay or why not Peking again? Thus, until the year 2000, the "Town of a
Thousand Golden Domes" will host the departure of the Master Rallye where
competitors, assistance, raid and organisation will all meet up again together.
The course, more concentrated, will be able to be deployed more rapidly towards
territories which lend themselves to racing and discovery.
For 1998, the Master Rallye will connect the three Seas between Moscow and Sotchi
by a trail which has been considered as being very sportive. We hope above all
that this Master Rallye will reinforce its qualities of attentiveness and
conviviality, whilst offering a fine course, enhancing the performances of the
best and at the same time the prowess of amateurs. Participants' satisfaction is
as always our primary concern.
As for myself, I wish to tell the competitors: my greatest pleasure is to be at
your sides and my greatest satisfaction is to take you right on to the end.»
